Program Overview
The Fund offers up to ten scholarships annually and on an occasional basis will sponsor Fellowships. Both are open to applicants seeking education and careers in public service and education. Further, the Fund continues to work with past recipients as they develop their careers and seek further professional and personal development.
Scholarship Purpose
Our scholarships and fellowships are intended to assist Alaska residents in furthering their education in fields which will have a positive impact on the citizens of the state through education and public service.
Scholarships
Successful candidates receive between $1,000 and $3,000 based on the quality and ratings of their applications by our Board of Directors. Two awards are offered for $3,000 annually for up to four years for the highest scoring public service and education applications. All other scholarships are for one year, though you may reapply for each year you are a full-time student in a course of study supported by the Fund.
Internships and Fellowships
While only occasionally offered, successful Fellowship candidates are provided up to $15,000 for six-month fellowships, as well as some expenses, to conduct work and/or research in a field identified in their application and approved by the board. The Fund can assist in placing a Fellowship recipient in the field of their choice. Few Fellowships are offered, but will be announced when available.
Residency
Only Alaska residents are eligible for scholarships.
Areas of Study We Fund
The Board will only consider applications from students interested in careers in education, government, and public service. Applications for other fields such as medical, nursing, or aviation will not be considered.
